Jeff Hanneman, Gitarrist von Slayer, ist am 2. Mai um 11:00 Uhr und im Alter von 49 Jahren in einer Klinik in Kalifornien und im Kreise seiner Familie verstorben. Die Todesursache wird mit Leberversagen angegeben. Hannemann erhohlte sich bereits zwei Jahre lang nur sehr schwer von einer Reihe an Operationen, Transplantationen und Reha-Therapien, die durch einen Spinnenbiss hervorgerufen wurden.
Jeff Hanneman wurde 49 Jahre alt und hinterlässt seine Frau Kathy, seine Schwester Kathy sowie seine Brüder Michael und Larry.

"Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.
