Gale: Hallo Werner und die Leserschaft von Darkscene! Wir sind eine vierköpfige Band aus Ravenna, einer Stadt an der nordöstlichen Küste Italiens, unser Line-up besteht aus: Burdo (Vocals and Guitar) Allo (Drums) Paso (Bass and sound engineer/producer), Gale (Guitars). Gegründet wurde das Unternehmen 2010, wir sind alles gute, alte Freunde und wir hatten bereits in einigen Bands zuvor gespielt. So entschieden wir uns, eine gänzlich neue Gruppe zu gründen, um genau die Musik spielen zu können, die wir alle lieben. Im Sommer 2012 nahmen wir das angesprochene Erstwerk "Tales Between Reality and Madness" auf, das zu Beginn des Jahres über Aural Music veröffentlicht wurde. Seitdem haben wir ausschließlich tolle Reaktionen seitens der Presse erhalten, "T.B.R.A.M." wurde von der Kritik gefeiert und wir sind daher mächtig stolz darauf! Wir waren uns sicher, dass wir einen guten Job abgeliefert haben, aber dann dein eigenes Album als vorrangig empfohlenes in diversen, wichtigen Magazinen zu sehen, als Album des Monats, als Album der Woche, und In einigen Top-Ten Listen des Jahres, ist ein wahre Detonation!

Gale: Ahaha! Glücklicherweise gibt es bei uns nicht nur diesen Power Metal oder Kacke wie diesen! Es gibt haufenweise großartige Kapellen in jeglichen Stilrichtungen. Was uns betrifft kann ich Dir sagen, dass wir Tonnen an Musik hören, hauptsächlich Rock und Metal. Jeder von und bezieht seine Rock-Wurzeln aus den Siebzigern; als wir noch Kinder waren, hörten wir viel Metal, Rock und Core Stoff. Allerdings sind wir inzwischen sehr offen und in unseren vier Wänden und im Auto kannst du ebenfalls Prog Rock, Punk, Blues, Electro, Grind, Reggae, Psyedelica etc hören. Wenn ich eine Liste unserer individuellen Einflüsse aufzählen müsste, wären es gut dreißig Beispiele für jeden einzelnen und ich glaube, es würde langweilig sein, so nenne ich gerade mal die wichtigsten, die uns beflügelt haben: Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Tool, Mastodon, Kyuss and King Crimson.

Gale: Nein, niemand hat sich darüber “beschwert”, dass nur sieben Tracks drauf sind!Man beachte, dass es sieben lange Lieder sind, das kürzeste ist länger als fünf Minuten, bzw. das Album bietet mehr in Summe als 45 Minuten Spielzeit.

Gale: Als Burdo die Texte nochmals durchlas, bekam er eine Idee für den Titel und für das Cover. Anschließend suchte er ein paar Abbildungen. Simone Bertozzi, ein wahrer Freund von uns (und ein großartiger Musiker: er spielt zusammen mit Mnemic, Empyrios and TheModernAgeSlavery), machte einen fantastischen Job.

Gale: Unsere Songs sind quasi wie unsere Kinder, ich liebe sie alle! Aber wann ich einen auswählen kann, glaube ich, dass “Lost In The Void” das Lied ist, welches unseren Sound am besten repräsentiert: du kannst schwere, tiefe Gitarren vernehmen, Killer Melodien, psychedelische Parts, sowie progressive Strukturen.

Gale: Burdo hat gänzlich alleine die Lyriks verfasst, er mag es, über menschliche Gefühle zu sprechen. "TBRAM" handelt über Emotionen wie Zorn, Angst, Wahnsinn, Depressionen. Ich kann Dir enthüllen, dass wir als nächstes ein Konzeptalbum machen, wobei die Texte noch mehr am Okkultismus orientiert sein werden, zur Sprache kommen Geheimorganisationen wie die Freimaurer.

Gale: Ich spiele hauptsächlich eine Gibson U.S.A. Les Paul Studio, mein Amp ist ein Hiwatt Custom 50 Head von ’76 mit einem Mesa Recto 4x12 Kabinett. Zudem habe ich ein Pedalboard mit einigen handelsüblichen und handgemachten Effekten. Burdo spielt eine Gibson U.S.A. ’58 Nachbaugitarre.

Gale: Als wir das Studio 73 für die Recordings betraten, hatten wir neun Tracks in petto, aber zwei davon passten uns nicht in die Gemütslage, daher entschieden wir uns, nur sieben Stücke aufzunehmen: das erste dieser beiden ist zu sehr im Rock n’ Roll verankert und das andere gar zu thrashig, aber es sind zwei coole Songs, vielleicht können diese Ideen in Zukunft wieder aufgegriffen werden. Im Moment haben wir einen neuen Neun-Minuten Track, und noch zwei andere im “Arbeitsprozeß”. Wir hoffen, dass nächste Album im Sommer 2014 aufnehmen zu können. Ich glaube, es wird etwas “extremer” werden als das Debüt, wahrscheinlich etwas heavier, psychedelischer, progressiver und gleichzeitig tiefer! Aber genaueres weiß ich nicht, wir schreiben zusammen und wir haben nicht alles diesbezüglich geplant. Es soll eine Überraschung für uns sein, wir proben drauflos und werfen Ideen zusammen um letztlich die perfekte Form der Songs zu erreichen!

Gale: Ravenna ist eine Kleinstadt, da ist keine weitere Band, die in unserem Genre spielt, aber wir pflegen Freundschaften zu anderen Kapellen wie Hierophant, Three Eyes Left, Nero di Marte, Speed Stroke and Show Strip Silence.

Gale: Das beste Album, welches ich letztes Jahr gekauft habe, ist "Legend" von Witchcraft, aber ich möchte im Zuge dessen so einiges an italienischen Stoff promoten, ohne bestimmte Reihung: Anguish - "Despair", Languish - "Lento", Samaroid Dioramas - "Sunpocrisy", La Danse Macabre - "Three Eyes Left", Nero di Marte - "Nero di Marte".

Gale: Verdammt schwierige Frage! Wenn ich das beantworte, würde es von Tag zu Tag immer anders aussehen! Lass es mich versuchen: "Appetite for Destruction" - GN’R, "Master of Reality" - Black Sabbath, "Grace" - Jeff Buckley, "Aenima" - Tool, "Red" - King Crimson.

In diesen Tagen sind wir beim planen einer kleinen Euro Tour für den Monat Oktober, genauer von 12. – 19., wir hoffen, auch bei euch spielen zu können, sicher ist aber die erste Show in Garmisch am 12.10., relative nahe zu deiner Stadt, weniger als seine Stunde mit dem Auto (wissen wir, lieber Gale!), … wir werden auf Dich/euch dort warten!

Gale: Hi Werner and all the readers of Darkscene! We are a four-piece band from Ravenna, on the North East Coast of Italy, the line-up is: Burdo (Vocals and Guitar) Allo (Drums) Paso (Bass and sound engineer/producer) and Gale (Guitars). We were born in 2010, we are all good old friends and we have played in some bands in the past, so we decide to make a new band where play the music we love. In the summer of 2012 we recorded our first album, "Tales Between Reality and Madness" which was released in January via Aural Music. Sincerely we don’t expect those reactions from the press, "T.B.R.A.M." was critically acclaimed and we are very proud of that. We were sure that we had done a good job but see your album featured in some important magazines and webzines, album of the month, album of the week, in some top 10 of the year is a real blast!

Gale: Ahaha! Fortunately in Italy there’s not only power-metal or shit like these! There are some great bands in any genre. Talking about us and our music influences I can say that we listen tons of music, mainly rock and metal. Each of us has its roots in the rock of the 70s, when we were kids we listened to many metal and hard-core stuff. But we are very open minded and in our houses/cars you can listen to every genre also prog-rock, punk, blues, electro, grind, reggae, psychedelia etc… If I were to make a list of the individual influences I must write at least 30 bands for each member and I think I will be too boring so I tell you only the most important bands that have influenced our music: Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Tool, Mastodon, Kyuss and King Crimson.

Gale: No, no one has “complained” that there are only seven songs! Note that are seven long songs, the shortest is more than 5 minutes, the album is more than 45 minutes.

Gale: When Burdo re-read the lyrics of the songs he get the idea for the title and the cover. Then he searched some images and Simone Bertozzi, a true friend of us (and a great musician: he plays with Mnemic, Empyrios and TheModernAgeSlavery) did a fantastic job making the artwork.

Gale: Our songs are like our children, I love them all! But if I can choose one I think that “Lost in the Void” is a song that represent our sound in a perfect way: you can hear heavy low guitars, killer melodies, trippin’ psychedelic parts, progressive structures.

Gale: Burdo did the entire work with the lyrics, he likes to talk about the human feelings. "T.B.R.A.M." talks about emotions like rage, fear, madness, depression. I can reveal to you that for the next album we are going to do a concept album and the lyrics will be more occult oriented, talkin’ about organizations like Freemasonry.

Gale: I use mainly a Gibson U.S.A. Les Paul Studio, my amp is an Hiwatt Custom 50 head from ’76 with a Mesa Recto 4x12 cabinet. I also have a pedalboard with some commercial and handmade effects. Burdo plays a Gibson U.S.A. ’58 reissue S.G. a JMP Marshall head from ’78 and a Mesa Recto 4x12 cabinet. And of course a some pedals. Paso plays a 90’s Fernandes tele-shape bass in a Gallien Krueger head and cabinet and a couple of distorsion and fuzz made by himself. Allo beats a Pearl Custom drum and many different cymbals. Why? Because it sounds good!

Gale: When we entered the Studio 73 to record we had nine songs but two of them were out of the mood of the record so we decide to record only seven songs: one is too rock n’ roll and the other is too thrash metal, but it’s two cool songs, maybe some ideas can be rearranged in a future. At the moment we have a new 9 minute track, and two other songs “work in progress”. We hope to record the new album in the summer of 2014. I think it will be more “extreme” than our debut, maybe it will be more heavy, more psych, more prog and more deep! But I really don’t know, we write together and we don’t plan anything, it’s even a susprise also for us, we jam and we arrange ideas to reach the perfect shape of the songs.

Gale: Ravenna is a small city, there’s no other band that play our genre but we are friends of some bands near our town like Hierophant, Three Eyes Left, Nero di Marte, Speed Stroke and Show Strip Silence.

Gale: The best album I bought in the last year is "Legend" by Witchcraft, but now I want to promote some Italian stuff so I make a top five recent Italian albums, in no particular order: Anguish - "Despair" Languish - "Lento", Samaroid Dioramas - "Sunpocrisy", La Danse Macabre - "Three Eyes Left", Nero di Marte - "Nero di Marte".
